About the Hydrosols

Hydrosols are aromatic plant waters produced during the distillation process. Different from essential oils, which are much more potent and need to be properly diluted for safe use, hydrosols are produced during the same alchemical process, but contain only trace amounts of essential oils. Trace aromatic molecules can be found in a hydrosol, but these aromatic waters are more famous for containing the water soluble plant compounds which are more easily used by the body making them as effective as they are gentle.

Rose

Rose hydrosol is known to have a balancing and softening effect on the energetic body. It is associated with the heart chakra and the solar plexus and helps facilitate feelings of openness and connection to others.

Mint

The mint family is famous for its cooling effects worldwide! This particular distillate is a blend of spearmint, peppermint, chocolate mint and apple mint that were locally grown and distilled in my copper alembic still. Mint hydrosols can help dispel confusion and irritability, helping to cool the temper and calm the mind of mental chatter.

Witch Hazel

Witch hazel hydrosol is not commonly known for its aromatherapeutic benefit, but odds are, you’re familiar with it already since it can be found in most neighborhood pharmacies as a topical remedy for toning and balancing the skin. Known as the “wayfaring tree” witch hazel is said to bring light to darkness and has strong associations with finding hidden things, more specifically, water, as in dousing which makes it a natural addition to this blend.
